All of the "Underwater California" images have been individually developed on Kodak silver halide papers for their extreme colorfastness and longevity -- never printed on inkjets, laser jets, or various other types of "prosumer" or consumer printers. They are all true photographs of archival quality . . .

They are shipped double-matted on pH neutral boards with UV glass and black metal frames. There has been no digital manipulation of any of the images -- only formatting necessary to achieve an 11" x 14" or 16" x 20" aspect ratio . . .

Many of our hundreds of underwater images will now be offered as matted-only 11" x 14" prints -- of particular convenience in shipping for our international clients. Though the default color for most of our double mattes are black on white, various other colors are available. Please inquire . . .




Octopus I

"Painted Greenling II"

Here is a portrait of Oxylebius pictus, seen cruising through fields of algae in the lower intertidal zone. During their spawning season, the male of the species assumes a very dark, almost black coloration, with white spots. Greenlings are seen from Kodiak Island in Alaska to the San Benito Islands in Baja California Sur -- and found to depths of 49 meters (160 feet).
